Niharika’s journey so far has endured a plethora of experiences, from directing and creating a documentary on the lives and stories of tribal women in Chhattisgarh to studying on the repatriation of African Cultural Heritage Art to Western Museums at Stanford Summer Humanities Institute to excelling at an all India National Economics Olympiad. Such experiences have embodied within her an interdisciplinary approach to learning, seamlessly blending diverse fields to study to gain holistic insights.
Family values, the responsibility of giving back to society, and social commitment set out Niharika’s engagement with the wider community. Initiating Maasik Haq in 2021, Niharika has aimed to destigmatize menstruation within tribal communities whilst empowering tribal women as a significant socio-economic faction in south Asia.
Back in 2020, when the world grappled with the Covid-19 Pandemic, as a 12-year-old, Niharika took it upon herself to donate Rs 48000 of her savings to a family of three migrants stuck in Delhi to fly back to their native place in Jharkhand. Covered extensively in the national and global media, her act received immense praise from the-then Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemand Soren, as well as Nobel Peace Prize Awardee Kailash Satyarthi. Recipient of the prestigious International Baccalaureate Global Action Youth Action Fund Award and Grant for Maasik Haq, Niharika has been honoured for her commitment to action in improving the lives of others and making the world a better place.
Moving from Pathways School Noida, where she spent her formative years to The British School New Delhi, in 2023, Niharika is currently a student of the International Baccalaureate Diploma, studying higher level mathematics, history and economics.
In the summer of 2023, Niharika had the privilege to attend the ‘Who Owns the Past: African Bay Museum’ course in Stanford Summer Humanities Institute Pre-Collegiate Program.
Horses have been significant to Niharika’s holistic development not just as a sportsperson but as an individual through the years. Niharika can often be found spending time after school with her horses at Pathways School Noida’s equestrian academy.
Project Tāsya is a passionate initiative initiated by Niharika and her peer Srinidhi dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged women and girls worldwide.
In 2020, when the world was wrestling with the grave implications and disastrous consequences of the Covid 19 Pandemic, Niharika gained significant attention for her generous act of donating Rs 48,000 from her personal savings to aid a family of three migrant workers during the COVID-19 crisis.
Working with Afghan Refugees (children) at the Simurgh Centre in New Delhi was a rewarding experience that provided Niharika with valuable insights into the resilience and challenges faced by displaced communities.
